Alt-Onin: Shimanto Region

The Shimanto River Valley is a rugged area of southern Shikoku that will someday be the city of Kochi. In the alt-1460's, it is part of Tosa Province. The region is dominated by the Tosa-Ichijo Clan, mostly through their vassals, the Ohisa Clan. The Tosa-Ichijo are based in Shimanto and Nakamura Castle, while the Ohisa are scattered around numerous smaller holdings in the countryside. The Shimanto River is only navigable by ships up to the village of Tsunsaki, becoming too shallow for anything but small boats further inland.

Nakamura Castle - Seat of the Tosa-Ichijo Clan, strong medium-sized castle. Hundreds of warriors possibly present.

Shimanto - Primary castle town. Markets, samurai district, important temples and shrines

Gutotaguro - Farming village, also home to various dirty, degrading, or disgusting crafts and manufacturing. It is also home to a small Burakumin community.

Uyama - Farming village, the unwelcome entertainment district of Ichijo-run lands. It comprises prostitutes, actors, gamblers, and other unseemly types. There are also a few Korean residents who are unfortunately not prestigious artisans residing in Shimanto.

Kotsuka - Farming village, nothing of note.

Tsunsaki - Fishing village, docks at the last point where the Shimanto River is wide and deep enough for seagoing ships. There are usually two or three warships and a small garrison based in a minor fort here, but they have little interaction with the locals.
