Aerial Recon Drone (SWPD Model)

The Southowilson Police Department fields compact VTOL recon drones, about the size of a kitchen trash can, used for surveillance, suspect tracking, and high-risk entry support. Fitted with advanced optics suites, they can scout alleys, rooftops, or interiors in conditions that would blind human officers. Their mounted autoshotgun is less about precision and more about flexibility: a wide spread offsets the drone’s stability limits, while interchangeable ammo loads (breaching rounds, gas, beanbags, buckshot) allow it to serve both utility and suppression roles. Although armored and surprisingly resilient, these drones are still vulnerable to EMPs and electrical fires, making them expendable yet highly valued tools for SIOD and Maxtac operations.

Cybercops: Southowilson SIOD (Campaign and Character Creation)

The Special Investigations and Operations Division (SIOD) is an elite unit within the Southowilson Police Department, composed of the department’s most skilled detectives and MaxTac officers. Candidates are selected for their experience, intelligence, and initiative. Unlike other divisions, SIOD is centrally administered from SWPD Headquarters in Turner Plaza, though its officers are deployed citywide as needed. They answer solely to the division captain.

SIOD is tasked with cases deemed too dangerous, sensitive, complex, or unusual for other divisions to handle. These range from gangs, organized crime, and drug rings to serial killings, corporate malfeasance, and incidents too obscure for routine investigation. If a case is too high-profile or, conversely, too low-profile to be handled through regular channels, SIOD takes it. Such assignments occur more often than most civilians realize.

The division is organized around a central command element and three to four teams, each comprising three to five officers. Every team is led by a detective sergeant, usually the most experienced officer on the team, and is assigned a distinct case. Squads maintain separate office spaces clustered around a shared briefing area near the captain’s office. Although the division’s base is officially located in the Judicial Center (Building 11, Turner Plaza), SIOD officers typically operate in the field or out of local precinct offices while conducting investigations.

Cyberpunk, 2300AD: SPM-1 Battleglove

SPM-1 Battleglove ($900):
+2 to punching damage, STR+d10 crushing damage on a successful grapple, and wearer is treated as "Armed" for defense purposes. 3 spaces for Cyberarm options from this list, priced separately. Not automatically armored, that must be purchased as an option. Seriously, all the gimmicky ridiculous stuff from CP2020, there's no way the authorities on Earth would allow anyone to make it legally. It would be perfect if at least half of it was from some shitty robofac, in an office park here in Tanstaafl City. Like the crappy "Ring of Fire" cheap pistols that have been made in LA for decades, changing corporate identity every time the Fed's shut them down and moving their machine shop from Pasadena to Anaheim.

SWADE/Twilight 2000 Resources

This is a repository of useful links for the SWADE-T2K campaign being run on Fridays. Everything here should be considered optional/ guideline/ suggestions unless the GM says otherwise. It will be continually updated as new resources are found.

ETI: Technology in the Earth That Is

Technology in Earth That Is can be thought of in three primary levels. Not just a game construct, this is how technology is often discussed in-setting. This will affect all personal equipment and technology in general. Each category listed includes discussion of specific equipment affected by the level.

In general, any personal equipment listed in the Helping Stick entries on Equipment is fair game in this setting.

SWADE: Specialty Arrowheads

It looks like no specialty arrows in Fantasy Companion. I would just call it as:

  • Bodkin, +1 AP, x2 cost
  • Broadhead, +1 Damage, x2 cost
  • Barbed, 2d4 on removal unless done with a Healing check, x2 cost.

2300AD: Tanstaafl Nights - Smart Weapons

Players can use advanced weapons that enable direct interfacing, eliminating manual aiming. Players must have a specific cybernetic implant to utilize this technology, which activates the smart targeting system. This system identifies and marks multiple enemies, allowing bullets to follow the targets once fired. The targeting assistance is provided through an ocular enhancement, and the effectiveness depends on the weapon type. Older system versions were connected via fiber-optic cables, whereas modern versions utilize encrypted wireless micronetworks. This remains one of the great arguments of the cybernetically enhanced murder-hobo world.

2300 AD: Tanstaafl Nights - The Drones

"Cherry Bomb", the local hacker with whom you all rode back to Tanstaafl City, graciously sold a pair of her old drones to Kingston Kinetics. These include one basic combat drone and one air drone for reconnaissance. They have been stripped of weapons and need some repairs. They were used and abused during the trip through Kafer country and currently have a -2 penalty for performing all Trait rolls until repaired.

The Tanstaafl Nights campaign will use B. Dean's "Chicago Sprawl" Drone rules, operating in both "Basic" and "Piloted" modes.

It is possible to control drones without a VCI cyberlink using special gear called a "Drone Rig". This weighs 5 lbs, costs $2000, and is effective out to 50". It includes VR goggles, various control systems, and a transmitter. Using the Drone Rig is less efficient than the VCI, and the drone/jockey team must pull two cards for initiative and use the lower of the two. If the drone is damaged or destroyed, the worst that can happen is that the pilot is Shaken by the experience. Otherwise, it functions the same way as the VCI and similar cyberware.

2300AD: Tanstaafl Nights - CP2020 Equipment Lists

Cyberpunk 2020 is (in)famous for its extensive equipment lists, covering all sorts of gear in great variety. Much of that gear fits into the 2300AD setting, with a little modification. This gear has been archived helpfully at a number of sites, including Cybersmily's Datafort. Consult the list for anything you might want. In general, apply the following broad guidelines.

Price: 90% of the time, the listed price in eB is pretty close to its SWADE equivalent, so use it.

Bonuses: If gear gives a +1 or +2, treat it as a +1 in SWADE. Higher bonuses give a +2. Where it specifies the skill or attribute, use common sense.

Weapons and Armor: If you find something that appeals to you, stat it as the appropriate equivalent from the "Near Future" lists I have linked to elsewhere.

Near Future/Sci-Fi Gear

Most of the items a scrappy adventurer might need are at one of the links below, the Sci-Fi Companion, or the core rules. If you want something not listed below, discuss it with your generous and faithful GM.

MgT2 Oghman Raider (500 tons, TL9)

The TL9 500-ton Oghman Raider is the most common raiding vessel constructed by the clans of Oghma.

Laser Barbettes, Bays, and Spinal Mounts

One of the large gaps that I noticed in the MgT2 naval architecture was a complete lack of laser weaponry larger than turrets. While at Tech Levels above 10 there are a wide variety of energy weapons that are more powerful and longer-ranged than lasers, it is still possible to build viable large warships at TL9-10. For such vessels, large lasers of various sorts are likely to be in common use as primary and secondary weaponry.

Additional Melee Weapons for Traveller (MgT2)

Melee weapons fall out of fashion as primary battlefield weapons quickly after TL4, though small blades remain in use long after that. Swords and other such weapons tend to be carried as sidearms or in a ceremonial role by royal guards, parade units, or nobles. Pirates and other thuggish criminals often carry them for their intimidation value, even at higher tech levels. Below is an assortment of melee weapons not described in the MgT2 Core Rules or in the CSC.

New Energy Weapon - Electrolaser

"An electrolaser is a type of electroshock weapon that is also a directed-energy weapon. It uses lasers to form an electrically conductive laser-induced plasma channel (LIPC). A fraction of a second later, a powerful electric current is sent down this plasma channel and delivered to the target, thus functioning overall as a large-scale, high energy, long-distance version of the Taser electroshock gun."

-Wikipedia

Traveller needs these too, I think.

Sonic Weapons for MgT2e

Sonic weapons, variously known as "screamers" or "disruptors", use highly focused sound of varying frequencies to produce damaging effects at range. On stun setting, the powerful vibrations induce nausea, dizziness, and unconsciousness with an audible and powerful hum. On their lethal setting, the high-pitched shriek of a sonic weapon will strip flesh from bones and induce panicked flight. They are short-ranged but are able to affect multiple targets at once within a broad area.  Sonic weapons have a bad reputation - while the nonlethal settings are a relatively humane way to disperse a crowd without long-term effects, the lethal setting is gruesome and terrifying. They are often chosen specifically for this dual nature by the enforcers of authoritarian regimes - protesters are given one chance to flee and live before the weapons are set to the lethal setting.

Tamland Vehicles GP6 "Brick" Military Utility G-Truck

The Tamland Vehicles GP6 "Brick" is a fairly generic sort of military support vehicle found in mid-tech militaries around the Spinward Marches. It is roughly equivalent to a standard air-raft in performance and is capable of carrying two crew (pilot and gunner), six passengers, and 1.5 tons of cargo from ground to orbit, or around in most environments. The vehicle is normally used to transport things like engineering teams, vehicle repair crews, and ship crews being transferred, as it has room for both a team and their large equipment. The "Brick" has light armor and a stabilized ring mount for a support weapon but is not actually a combat vehicle; the hull will resist most small arms, to a point. Nevertheless, the "Brick" is occasionally pressed into service by lesser militaries as an APC, where it serves admirably until it comes under fire. The "Brick" is manufactured by Tamland Vehicles, a subsidiary of Tamland Industries on Fornice, in the Mora Subsector.

Sandcaster Additions for MgT2e

Sandcasters are an interesting sort of low-tech yet high-tech system, appearing at TL9, yet with ammunition available as early as TL7. Sandcasters throw a cloud of ablative particles into the path of an attacker's laser fire, reducing its effectiveness quite a bit. Mongoose Traveller introduces a number of other sorts of rounds, including chaff, anti-personnel, and even anti-sand! Semi-canonical sources hint that the average round is 50 kilograms and about 30 liters... that's roughly the size of a typical garbage can. This suggests that if the round fits within those parameters, all manner of things might be lobbed out into space, useful or not!

Additional Slugthrowers for MgT2e

While the weapon selections available for Mongoose 2e are extensive,  there are a few types of slugthrowers (TL5-9) that can be added to the list. They change nothing about existing rules, and the statistics are extrapolated from the existing game statistics. While these weapons are primitive compared to some of the technology in use by 1105, they remain common due to their low cost, simplicity, and effectiveness with the right ammunition.
