Cyberpunk SIOD: The Aftermath of the Case

Results of the Glory Lane Corporate Murder Case

Thomas Kwong made it to ICU, where after a few days an assassination attempt was made. This was unsuccessful, though nobody was captured. It is assumed this was Jade Fist trying to keep him from talking. Oddly, your interrogation efforts got little actionable information, other than an admission that he is a contract assassin. This was enough, as the state-appointed defense attorney was destroyed by the NorCal DA, resulting in the death penalty. Kwong has been transported to the state prison in.... Folsom? Yuba City? I forget, but his killing days are over.

  • 1d10 vs 1d8 Assassination thwarted
  • 1d10 vs. 1d8 Interrogation unable to get him to talk. (5vs 7, needs a Raise)
  • Conviction. 1d8 Defense 3 vs. 1d10 NorCal DA 17 - Death Penalty

The indictment against Altima Heavy executive Kerrin Vale was quietly sealed at the request of both corporate and municipal officials, each desperate to avoid a public scandal that could derail Southowilson’s half-built Arcology, the city’s single largest postwar investment.  Prosecutors had enough to charge him with conspiracy to murder a company auditor, but Altima’s lawyers warned that any press coverage would trigger stock collapse and international arbitration.  The Mayor’s office, equally anxious to protect the city’s economic showcase, agreed to “temporarily” defer proceedings.  Meanwhile, Vale remains trapped in legal limbo:  unable to leave NorCal because returning to Oceania would expose him to corporate homicide charges under Australian law, yet untouchable within Southowilson’s jurisdiction thanks to sealed filings, lobby pressure, and the unspoken rule that no one embarrasses a major investor during an election year.

  • Defense d10 vs. same DA d10+2. Success to keep in NorCal, Raise to indict. Failure = extradition to Oceania. Crit Fail, charges dropped.  Defense 3, DA 5
