Cyberpunk 2026: Klamath Conlusion

Helios 24 – NorCal’s Finest News

ZONE KLAMATH — Authorities are investigating a violent incident late last night after an explosion and sustained gunfire were reported at an illegal clinic in Zone Klamath. Metro SIOD units responded after evidence at the scene suggested links to Delta Inevitable, a transnational extremist group associated with illegal human augmentation. Several individuals believed to be affiliated with the Erebos Pulse gang were found dead or critically injured outside the facility, suffering gunshot wounds, stab injuries, and what investigators described as possible “animal-type trauma.”

Inside the clinic, additional bodies were recovered, many showing signs of advanced cybernetic modification and prior criminal histories. However, public attention has centered on the death of Malik Rourke, an Eddings University graduate student, who was found executed by what investigators believe to be a directed-energy weapon. His status as a university researcher has sparked public outcry and renewed scrutiny over activity in Zone Klamath, an area long associated with unregulated clinics and illicit biotech work. Officials believe the attack was targeted, possibly aimed at seizing high-value assets or data. No suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Payout: The target was acquired and transferred alive and unharmed, and the clients paid out $20,000. Not too shabby for a night's work, but you might oughta watch your asses, and do NOT go back to Zone Klamath for a while. You might even consider getting out of town for a bit till things cool down.

Phat Loots: Unfortunately, you guys had to grab and go. I'm assuming there was enough time and greedy little fingers to grab a few of the most portable and appealing items, so here is what you found.

  • In the arsenal: 2 shotguns, 1 medium assault rifle, 1 sonic stunner, flamethrower, EMP gun, 8 gas masks, 2 LSD grenades. I assume these were probably already distributed or claimed. I include them for thoroughness.
  • Scattered Around Inside: 3 medium pistols, 2 medium SMG's, Commlinks (x2) – $50 each, AR Glasses (x1) – $300, Bypass Kit (standard) – $500, Handheld Computer (x1) – $350, Signal Jammer (small unit) – $800
  • In Dracula's Duffel Bag: 1 heavy reflex vest and helmet (+6), pair of Heat Gauntlets, 1 dose Major Trauma Drug, 2 doses Minor Combat Drugs, 1 break grenade launcher, 3 tangler grenades
  • In the final Storage Room: Before you blew the escape hole in the wall, you found the following items neatly packaged, and still in the OEM wrappers like the day they were originally stolen; compact field surgery kit ($1000), Data Jack Units (x2) – $5,000 each, Skill Chip Processor (damaged or partial) – $8,000, Implant Control Chips (x3) – $500 each, Neural Interface Hardware (lab-grade) – $2,500, Minor Trauma Drugs (x3) – $100 each, Major Strain Modulator Drug (x1) – $1,200
Data Files: I assume you would have Ghost decrypt the files for a hefty service fee. Most of the files were cryptic gibberish, probably only meaningful to the Mad Doctor who ran the place. Ghost would still parse out the following summaries, interesting tidbits surrounding three specific areas of research.

SM Synthetic Gland (“Leaker”) - This is the target of your raid.
The CSM Synthetic Gland is a bioengineered implant designed to continuously produce controlled micro-doses of Cyber-Strain Modulators within the host body, allowing sustained operation at or beyond normal cybernetic tolerance limits without external dosing. Implanted near the liver and adrenal complex, the gland synthesizes active compounds from specialized dietary precursors, maintaining a steady-state chemical balance that smooths strain spikes and delays systemic overload. Delta Inevitable’s research focuses on long-term stability under continuous load, tracking metabolic throughput, dependency curves, and failure cascades when the gland is stressed or starved. Observations indicate that while the gland enables unprecedented integration of high-strain systems, subjects rapidly develop physiological dependence, and catastrophic feedback events remain a persistent risk under extreme conditions, particularly when output exceeds modeled tolerances.

Neuro-Overclock Governor (“Limiter Break”)
The Neuro-Overclock Governor is an experimental implant-and-firmware package designed to temporarily override the brain’s natural inhibitory thresholds, allowing subjects to operate at extreme levels of speed and coordination for short durations before enforced stabilization. Delta Inevitable’s work focuses on mapping neurological failure curves under controlled stress, with extensive data logs tracking spike thresholds, recovery intervals, and terminal collapse points. Subjects are categorized solely by performance metrics, and repeated trials indicate diminishing recovery margins over time, suggesting that while peak output can be increased, long-term survivability remains inconsistent.

Hematophagic Viability Study (“Subject 0”)
The Hematophagic Viability Study documents Delta Inevitable’s examination of a captured, non-derivative hematophagic organism designated Subject 0, which was subsequently dissected and incinerated following analysis. The project seeks to replicate observed traits, rapid regenerative capacity, metabolic dependence on blood intake, and elevated resistance to physical trauma. Surviving materials consist of preserved tissue samples, reactive blood compounds, and fragmented research notes describing complex, self-regulating biological systems that resist conventional modeling. Experimental replication attempts have uniformly failed, producing unstable or feral subjects incapable of sustaining the desired traits. Final entries indicate that the original organism’s properties are not reproducible through known bioengineering techniques, concluding that such capabilities must be obtained rather than constructed.
