Geiyo Estates

 The Geiyo Islands are a large cluster of small islands in the Seto Inland Sea between Shikoku and Honshu (the main island). Tides and currents in the region are crazy, making a local pilot necessary for merchant shipping. The region is under the effective control of a loose confederation of pirate clans known collectively as the "Murakami".

There are three main bands each of which has 1d4 warships and 2d6 smaller ships available, with a couple dozen fighters per ship, depending on size;

  • Innoshima Murakami, based on Innoshima to the northwest.
  • Noshima Murakami, based on Noshima, just off Oshima, opposite the Yoshiumi Estate
  • Kurushima Murakami, based on Kurushima, near the Tsu Estate.

There are also countless smaller Murakami bands scattered around the region. Each has 1d4 smaller ships and a dozen or so fighters per ship. Alt-1468

there is no overall command, and it takes a LOT of pushing to unify them against a single threat.

The region of Honshu nearest the Geiyo Islands is ironically right on the border between Yamana and Hosokawa Clan territory, either directly or allies. So the war in Kyoto, which may have calmed down a bit, is roaring just a few miles north of Prince Akihiro's little estates. To make matters more confusing, Mongol-occupied Honshu is just a little ways to the west. The Murakami are frequently hired by both sides as transport and as mercenaries.

Shikoku near the city of Imabari, to the south, is controlled by the Kono... the same bunch that tried to sell you out to the Yamana when you first came to this part of Japan.

Exciting!

Green areas are settled/farmed/populated areas, held as territory by any number of possible landholders. Prince Akihiro has three estates here:

  • Santobun Estate is a large fishing village with a sideline in mulberry cultivation
  • Yoshiumi Estate is a medium fishing village with a sideline in mulberry cultivation
  • Tsu Estate is a medium fishing village, theoretically the entire island is the estate.
