K24: The Encounter at the Chapel of St. Lumina of Makipola

A necromancer had recently taken residence in the abandoned cemetery of a ruined town, once known as Makipola, now infamous as "Bad Ground" due to its destruction in the Great Scourging during the Twenty Years War. The area had been plagued by restless spirits, angry at the long neglect of their graves, creating a malevolent atmosphere. The necromancer, who had moved in about a month prior, began reanimating skeletons, causing unrest in the nearby village of Hiddleton, home to the descendants of Makipola’s survivors. Desperate for help, two villagers from Hiddleton with little money and no connections, sought aid from the Armsman’s Guild. The guild, seeing an opportunity to engage the newly formed group of adventurers, especially as they included two priests, directed them to assist.

After a hard fight against a bunch of skeletons, two Cremazombies (till I think of a better name for them), four bugbears, an imp, and a fake necromancer. A good time was had by all, except for the imp, whose bones are still stapled to the ceiling of the dome. In general, the cremazombies seemed a little tougher than most mindless undead, but not hugely so. The biggest issue was that they seemed to slowly reform regardless of what was done to them until they were dealt with by a priest. Similarly, disturbing the ashes or attacking them with melee weapons seemed to create a harmful cloud of burning ash and dust.

The group went into the sublevels of the temple, battling more bugbears and skeletons, and eventually encountering the necromancer. Rather than a potentially suicidal fight, Jad and the necromancer decided to parley. The necromancer gave his name as "Drusus", and appears to be a high ranked priest from the Kehler city of Hyrkala, an infamous slave port on the Kehler Sea. Drusus agreed to turn over a treasure chest in exchange for safe passage out of the temple and the town. The arrangement concluded, the PC's gathered their treasure and departed. Drusus disappeared into the wilderness. The next day, the adventurers hunted down and destroyed the remaining ghouls with the help of the escaped slaves. Everyone left the town of Makipola forever, traveling from Hiddleton back to the Halleck capital city of Dinas Halak.

Treasures from the Basement

Drusus's Personal Items: Elite Solar Bible ($100 value to Aurinians and book collectors); Aurinian church medallion ($100 value for metal value), $180 in silver coins in a coin purse, one Cremazombie grenade, worth taking for study since they are a new form of undead.

Aurinian Church Treasure Chest: Lead-lined chest is worth $300 alone. Contains $32,000 in Imperial silver and gold coins, and a few odd gems and bits of jewelry.

Bugbear Loot: Not much on them... five suits of rusty chainmail vests, seven or eight Gobbo throwing spikes (as hand axes), and five Gobchoppers (as broadswords), a combined total of $150 in silver and copper coins. The weapons and armor have some trophy or collector value, but are otherwise of crude construction.

Relics: There are three relics; the finger, skull, and the charred skin of St. Lumina, a obscure sage of the region and a hero of the wars against the Perashdan. These items give a +1 each to Aurintuli's priests Faith rolls, and Undead and Infernals must make a Spirit roll to come within 2" of each one. Each item is contained in a reliquary box worth $250.

Am I missing anything?
